Last night, some new set photos from The Avengers arrived which feature Chris Evans as Captain America fighting an actor in a motion-capture suit, and another with Captain America holding a bizarre otherworldly weapon. It seems we may have some answers to those mysterious photos as an on-set insider confirmed that The Skrulls will be villains in The Avengers, alongside Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.

The involvement of The Skrulls has been rumored for some time now, with one report dating back to December 2010, and another report from March which alleged The Skrulls would team up with Loki. Those reports were never confirmed by Marvel.

The Skrulls, which first appeared in the Marvel comic books in 1961, are a shape-shifting race of aliens who can turn into any living creature or inanimate object. It isn’t known how they become involved with Loki in The Avengers story line as of yet, but their presence in the movie would explain the motion-capture actors and the bizarre firearms.

The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston. The film is directed by Joss Whedon. (Source)

Ask Ausiello has posted some How I Met Your Mother spoilers regarding what fans can expect in the upcoming season, specifically, what’s in store for Robin! Take a look below:

Question: The new season of How I Met Your Mother is so, so close. Got anything juicy on it?
Ausiello: Kal Penn debuts as Robin’s shrink and love interest in Episode 4. “Robin comes [to him] to deal with all of these illogical feelings she has for Barney, and then [she develops] illogical feelings for her therapist,” explains exec producer Craig Thomas. “So it picks up from there with them wrestling with, ‘What the hell do you do with that? That’s weird and inappropriate.’ So that’s a fun new thing that Robin has to wrestle with.”

Ask Ausiello has posted some How I Met Your Mother spoilers regarding what fans can expect in the upcoming season. Take a look below:

Question: So excited for the new season of How I Met Your Mother. Are we going to see the fifth and final slap of the slap bet?
Ausiello: Yes… but not necessarily this season. “We will see the last slap,” assures exec producer and co-creator Carter Bays. “The last slap will not be the Russian guy running off into the woods [like] on Sopranos. We will resolve it, but we can’t say whether it’s this year or next year, or the year after that or the year after that, or Season 14.”

Question: Will Lily’s pregnancy span How I Met Your Mother‘s entire season? Meaning, do we have to wait for the finale to see her give birth?
Ausiello: Pretty much. The baby arrives during May sweeps. However, we’ll find out if the bundle of joy has a ding-dong or a hoo-hah before then. “There will be an episode before she give birth that’s about what the sex of the baby is,” reveals EP Craig Thomas.

For those who have been waiting six seasons for the answers to some of How I Met Your Mother’s biggest mysteries, executive producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays say Season 7 will offer what you’re looking for.

1. Who’s the mother? Just kidding! The producers aren’t divulging that detail yet, but “some of the stuff we’re doing this season is really digging deep in the How I Met Your Mother mythology,” Thomas says.

In fact, Ted’s main drive from Day 1 will be the focus of this season, as he tries to figure out why it’s taken him so long to actually meet the mother. “Our pilot launched with Ted [Josh Radnor] seeing his two best friends getting engaged and that turned Ted crazy for a night and he told a girl on a first date that he loved her,” Thomas says. “Ted has been on all these other journeys, so it’s nice to come back and ask the question: What does Ted do now that his two best friends are married and having a kid?

“It’s a great recommitting of Ted’s journey, where he’s like, ‘It’s time to get serious again!’ Ted is going to have a lot of good momentum this year,” he continues. “You’re going to see Ted be Ted. ‘Where’s the one? I used to be this guy who had so much heart. I’ve kind of drifted on that and had some other crazy relationships, what do I do now? How do I get back on that track?'”

2. When is Lily due? Speaking of Ted’s friends, Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) will face the trials and tribulations of pregnancy this season — and they’ll be doing it alone. After a false positive pregnancy test, the pair will be more reluctant to jinx the impending baby this time around. “They don’t want to do that again and want to wait three months like you’re supposed to and not freak everyone out,” Thomas says. “But then they go to this wedding and everyone is getting trashed. Lily realizes right when she walks in, ‘Marshall, it’s going to be conspicuous if I don’t drink, so you’re drinking for two tonight.’ So Marshall is doing double the amount of alcohol.”

“It’s sort of our way of addressing head-on the issue of, like, she’s going to have a baby, and basically this show is five functional alcoholics, so how’s that going to work?” Bays adds.

What’s more hilarious than Jason Segel on double the amount of alcohol? Recalling Lily and Marshall’s visit to his parents’ house in Minnesota, where Lily realizes how big the Eriksen boys are. “We mention that in the premiere,” Thomas says. “Lily says, ‘I’m staring down the barrel of a boulder-headed Eriksen baby coming out of my hoo-ha. I think you can drink for two tonight. You can have some extra cocktails. I’m going to go through a pretty big ordeal in May.'”

That’s right, Lily will give birth by the end of the upcoming season. “As it turns out, biologically a pregnancy is about the length of a TV season, so we’re going to get to see the whole ride and journey that Marshall and Lily take to parenthood,” Bays says.

3. Who is Barney’s bride? “We’re not going to string that along,” Thomas promises. In the Season 6 finale, a flash-forward revealed Barney’s wedding day. Shortly before the jump, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) reconnected with Nora (Nazanin Boniadi). Her return causes quite a quandary for Robin. “Robin is watching him chase after Nora, and has an ethical dilemma of like, ‘Now I have feelings for this guy again. They’re crazy, they’re illogical, but there’s chemistry,'” Thomas says. “‘Do I stamp them down and not tell him so he can go after Nora, or do I possibly screw things up and throw my feelings into the mix?'”

Thomas adds that there will be more than just the main love triangle. “Who’s Barney marrying? There will be several choices. It’s a little bit of a Mamma Mia in Season 7.” How I Met Your Mother returns Monday, Sept. 19 at 8/7c on CBS. (Source)

A very short teaser trailer for Marvel Studios, The Avengers has been released! If you do not want to know what happens at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, then move on to another story NOW! Otherwise…

If any actor knows the anxieties and payoff of stepping onto the silver screen as a superhero, it’s Robert Downey Jr., who super-charged his career by donning the armor of Iron Man for a franchise that has pulled in more than $1.2 billion in worldwide box office. On Tuesday at the premiere of Captain America: The First Avenger at the El Capitan Theatre, Downey said he knew what it was like to walk a mile in the red boots of Chris Evans, the latest Marvel Universe star.

“Evans has had just a nerve-racking summer up to this point,” he said. “Up until this night, you’re starting to get the feedback and people are saying, ‘Wow, this really works. And we’re happy and reviews are good and it looks like the numbers are gonna be good.’ It’s a horrible part of the job that we do. But it’s nice when he’s on this side of it, I imagine, for him.”

It remains to be seen how the public will receive “Captain America” – but Evans already has a big fan in Downey. “First of all, look at the man’s profile. Very handsome. Second of all — very capable actor,” the actor said. So the pair and the rest of the team are getting along on the set of “Avengers”?

“It’s a nightmare,” Downey said with a winking tone. “I’m not talking to these clowns. No. It’s really fun. It’s been surprisingly fun. Also, [‘Avengers’ director] Joss Whedon has really taken us to new depths of discovery for our characters. And I think the movie going audiences – myself among them – should be pleased.”

AOL had a chance to sit down with Carter Bays, one of the creators of How I Met Your Mother to discuss a possible series finale, upcoming storylines and much more. Take a look at a short snippet below:

You guys are obviously huge fans of [the show] ‘Lost.’ Are you going to set an end date for your show?
Carter Bays: We knew this question was coming. We’re not, no. We [understand] the reasons ‘Lost’ did it and certainly it made sense for them. Right now we’re contracted to go through season 8, and at that point, there is every chance that that’s the end of ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ If that’s the case, then that’s our end point. But we are open to doing this as long as we feel we have stories to tell, and, of equal importance, as long as people want to watch it. If it still feels exciting going into a season 9, then we’ll keep doing it.

Let’s say at the end of season 8, you were going to lose an actor or two. When you think about that scenario in your mind, would losing cast members upset the balance of the show too much?
Yes, it would be very hard to do this show with just four of them or just three of them. That’s a decision we luckily don’t have to make yet and if we did, that would be a difficult one. I think we would probably try to accommodate a reduced schedule for whatever actor didn’t want to return. But luckily that decision is still a ways off.

President Obama’s loss is How I Met Your Mother‘s gain.

Kal Penn put the brakes on his acting career two years ago when he left his regular gig on House for a job in the Obama administration. He is now returning to TV with a major recurring role on How I Met Your Mother, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

A show rep declined to comment, but a Mother source says Penn will play a possible love interest for Cobie Smulders’ lovelorn Robin named Kevin.

HIMYM exec producer Craig Thomas strongly hinted to TVLine in May that Robin would jump back into the dating scene, especially now that her maybe-soul mate Barney had moved on with Nora: “Robin didn’t do a hell of a lot of dating at all [last season]; she was more [immersed in] switching careers,” he said. “Now, Robin, who’s single and is looking forward a little bit, can’t help but wonder if what happened between her and Barney could have been something more had they been more ready.

Barney growing up a bit via Nora “has not gone unnoticed by Robin, who did not have a serious love interest this past year. She’s definitely going to have to wrestle with that at the start of Season 7.”

Director Joss Whedon remained busy on the set of The Avengers but Marvel Studios Co-President Kevin Feige helped fan more excitement for the superheroes adventure (if that’s even possible) talking about next summer’s blockbuster with Film Journal.

“We’re making a big crossover event that brings all of these characters together to face something incredible and epic,” Feige told Film Journal.

As far as maintaining some sort of balance amongst all the Marvel characters, Feige credited Whedon for being an expert at telling ensemble stories thanks to his experience with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

“We’re in the fifth week of production on The Avengers and all of the actors have been very impressed with him. They all carry their own movies and I think everyone was worried about who would get the short end of the stick. But no one does because they’re all there servicing the larger story. The stuff we’ve shot is cutting together spectacularly and it’s just the character interactions that we’ve done so far. We haven’t shot much of the action sequences yet. I think the end result is going to feel very, very satisfying.”

“Thor” star Chris Hemsworth continued to work alongside Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark and Iron Man in the big-budget “The Avengers” with Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) among others.
