Director Joss Whedon is putting the finishing touches on Marvel’s The Avengers, which kicks off the summer movie season May 4. While the ensemble features an entire team of superheroes, the filmmaker revealed that most of the story will be told through the perspective of Chris Evans’ Captain America character.
Here’s what he had to say below:
“I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about. So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it.”

Recently elaborating on his career with the U.K.’s Independent, British actor Tom Hiddleston surely discussed his ‘God Of Mischief’ reprisal as ‘Loki’ in Marvel and Joss Whedon’s superhero phenomenon flick The Avengers. Take a look below at what Tom called a ‘surreal’ experience:
“There was one day when, as Loki, I was sat on some steps, staring at the Avengers in front of me. It would be quite odd just to look at a grouping that involves [such actors as] Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth. But the fact that they were dressed in the most outlandish hero costumes was bizarre! And I thought to myself, ‘This is the dizzy heights.’”

We’ve seen the English and Russian versions, now it is time for the German edition. The German movie trailer for the upcoming film, The Avengers has been released. The Russian and German trailers appear to be virtually identical, both containing new footage. Take a look below:
We all know that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is the main villain of Marvel’s The Avengers. But this Joss Whedon directed ensemble is rumored to have a second villain that has, until now, been kept a tightly guarded secret.
NECA’s HeroClix is set to release their Marvel’s the Avengers line in 2012, and a product description sent to retailers seemingly gives away the identity of the film’s top secret villain. If we are to believe this toy description, Captain America: The First Avenger foe Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) will be the one helping Loki to destroy our team of superheroes this summer.
Here is the product description for the HeroClix line of Marvel’s the Avengers miniature figurines.
“Charging straight out of theaters and onto your tabletop, Marvel’s the Avengers Movie HeroClix set features heroes like Captain America and Thor as they battle the villainy of the Red Skull and Loki! Each Counter-Top display includes standard one-figure boosters as well as new three-figure “Team Packs”! Team Packs are designed with strong thematic undertones – play a Hydra force or defend freedom with a S.H.I.E.L.D. team pack!”
It should be noted that at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, Red Skull is transported into another realm, which could very well be Asgard. Its also possible that Red Skull is include in his Marvel’s the Avengers line simply because it contains 24 single figures, plus 4 team packs of 3 figures each. That’s a lot of characters needed to fill out this particular set of miniatures, and NECA may simply be borrowing characters from other Marvel movies.

Marvel has unleashed a new international Russian trailer for The Avengers, and it contains a bit more new footage. The trailer is completely in Russian but you still get a pretty good idea of what is going on. There’s no doubt that this film is going to be epic.
Earlier today, Walt Disney Pictures announced Marvel’s The Avengers will be converted for a 3D release. Director Joss Whedon recently spoke about the news, assuring fans that Marvel’s the Avengers isn’t, “obnoxiously 3D.” Here’s what the filmmaker had to say below.
“There’s no, ‘Oh look, we’re going to spend 20 minutes going through this tunnel because it’s in 3D!’ And no one is pointing at the screen the entire time. But it’s an action movie. Things tend to hurtle toward the screen anyway.”
Joss Whedon also said he is fully behind the decision to covert Marvel’s the Avengers to 3D in post-production, and that 3D fits his style of directing.
“Yeah, it’s fun! I’m not a big fan of extreme long lens, talky movies. I like to see the space I’m in and relate to it, so 3D kind of fits my aesthetic anyway. And the technology has advanced so far in the past couple years.”
Marvel’s The Avengers is still keeping its May 4, 2012 release date, despite the 3D conversion. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and is directed by Joss Whedon. (Source)
